The Challenge
Building an Outdoor Brand That Felt Enduring, Not Trend-Driven
The outdoor apparel market is crowded with brands that often lean into rugged cliches or modern technical aesthetics. The challenge was to create a brand that felt rooted in tradition without feeling outdated–one that could sit comfortably alongside heritage names while still appealing to a new generation of outdoorsmen.
Mallard needed an identity that celebrated craftsmanship, sporting culture, and time spent outdoors, while creating a visual system that extended beyond a logo.
The Solution
Heritage Without Nostalgia
Developed a visual identity inspired by classic sporting clubs, vintage field guides, and traditional outfitting that captured a sense of history without feeling like a reproduction of the past.
A World Beyond the Logo
We created a flexible brand system complete with a custom mascot illustration, typography with personality, and supporting graphics that made the brand recognizable in every application.

Mallard was formed from a collection of observations. Vintage sporting clubs, weathered duck decoys, field journals, and well-worn ephemera. We wanted to look beyond classic outdoor apparel and studying the objects, traditions, and printed materials that have shaped sporting culture for generations.
Together, these references established a visual language that felt enduring, collected, and unmistakably at home in the outdoors.
